I don't know why, but I've got a habit of joining a clan/guild/group and putting my hand in to help out by offering suggestions, helping newbies, recruiting etc. Generally to help improve things.
What I want to suggest is the possibility changing forum/website hosts, so that our galactic crime syndicate (if that's the right name?) looks a bit more professional and organized - and I don't me professional as in business, but more so that we're serious about the game and we know what we're doing.
Now, I'm an experienced clan/guild leader of 4 years running, so this is where all of my suggestions come from -- my experience. In my experience, using free forum hosts in generally a bad idea for the clan/guild's image, and can potentially hurt recruitment prospects. I've had several possible recruits in the past turn me down simply because we were hosted on a freebie forum host.
I know of ways to get a website for our group that comes complete with a good forum, main website with news columns/custom pages/application forums etc all under the same roof, as well as the ability to add our own unique domain name.
Now, I've looked through parts of the forum and I've noticed that not a great deal has been posted etc - so it wouldn't be that hard to pick up and continue as we are now, but if we had like 10000 posts or whatever, it'd be a bit harder.
There are two placed which I recommend:
www.mmoguildsites.com - Free, customizable, great for those who don't have the money to spend monthly on upkeep.
www.enjin.com - This one is a paid set up, but I recommend this over mmoguildsites.com - simply because of what it can do. It's only 8 bucks a month, and can be paid in advance etc. There's even a nifty paypal donations box so that the owner doesn't have to pay all by his lonesome.
Let me know what you guys think.
